Ella Purnell’s future looks bright and hopeful as she shapes her career the way Jenna Ortega did with her own.

Ella Purnell is one of the fastest-rising stars today thanks to her breakout roles in Fallout and Yellowjackets. There’s no stopping her from conquering Hollywood as she now stars in the dark comedy-drama Sweetpea in a role that seemingly fits her acting style.

Interestingly, the actress did not plan to take the heavy and serious roles she has done in the past, but somehow they came her way and were ready for the taking. It looks like she’s having some sort of Jenna Ortega-esque legacy with the direction of her career.

While speaking with The Guardian, actress Ella Purnell responded to the notion that she has become an unlikely scream queen. Surprisingly, she is not a fan of the genre and she’s the very opposite of the character she plays on screen.
I can’t do horror films. I don’t really love watching too much gore, or any supernatural things. I’m not even really a big sci-fi person. And I’m not a gamer. So I don’t know how any of this has happened!
Fans can understand her amusing frustration over how things have turned out for her, but looking at the bigger picture, it seems helpful in her career. In fact, netizens have started noticing that she is already crafting a path for herself in the industry, unbeknownst to her. On Reddit, one user remarked on her stint as Rhiannon Lewis in Sweetpea:
Maybe she’s found her niche and still doesn’t know it based on her earlier statement. It’s not a bad thing at all to work on similar projects and roles when one is still trying to find their footing in the business.

Look at Jenna Ortega — she became a household name for playing the same goth girl characters on movies and television, and so far, it has worked wonders in her profession.
Purnell might want to take advantage of this trend while she’s at it because she seems to fit in the roles she plays, no matter how distant they are to her own personality. “People think I must be really messed up, but I swear I’m a happy, well-adjusted human!” she told the same outlet. Don’t you think it’s more interesting to have a little bit of intrigue and surprise from time to time?

Purnell confessed to never dreaming of becoming an actor, even though she has done a couple of projects in her younger years. She’s worked with Tim Burton in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and also played Kiera Knightley’s child character in Never Let Me Go. Still, she wasn’t sure of the path she was treading.
The 28-year-old actress has eventually decided to launch her career after starring in several popular franchises, such as Prime Video’s Fallout series and Showtime’s Yellowjackets. With her newly released show from Sky Atlantic, it seems like she is meant to pursue this path with her “cute but literally insane” signature roles.
Sweetpea is currently available to watch on Sky.
