Elon Musk has had enough developers trying to force their DEI-woke ideologies into games instead of focusing on improving the gameplay experience.

Musk believes that this one particular reason is responsible for some of the recent big-budget failures in the gaming industry, including Sony’s $400 million disaster Concord.

According to Musk, the impact of DEI philosophies on video games is detrimental to artistic expression. He believes that incorporating forced-woke ideologies ruins the gameplay experience by making it feel more like a lecture than a video game.

He believes this is what kills art. The biggest example of this is Sony’s latest failure, Concord, which too was criticized for focusing more on forced wake elements rather than improving the gameplay. The game’s failure is living proof that people want great gameplay and storytelling experiences above anything else.

A game should be narratively and technically sound first to think about doing anything else. Incorporating inclusive elements just for the sake of it to increase the scope of its audience has never worked in any game’s favor.

Focusing on DEI initiatives harms the creative and artistic integrity of games by prioritizing political messaging over quality gameplay and immersive storytelling. The initial focus should always be on making the gameplay and story better; the rest of everything comes after that.

This is a more traditional way of looking at video games, but it is also the one that the majority of the community is in favor of. Musk is not the only one who believes that video games should be left as they are.

Musk is all praise for Japanese developers, especially Hidetaka Miyazaki and his latest game, Elden Ring. He believes that this game represents what the core gaming community craves: a good gameplay experience topped with immersive storytelling.
