Just when it looks like Eminem’s new album is finally done and will begin dropping down the charts for good, he does something to reinvigorate interest in the project. The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) rises on a number of rankings in the U.S. and even manages a lofty debut on one additional list, showing that his fans aren’t quite ready to move on from the set.
The Death of Slim Shady debuts on the Vinyl Albums chart this week, following the shipment of copies of the title on wax. Eminem’s latest studio effort opens at No. 2 on Billboard’s list of the top-selling albums and EPs on vinyl in the U.S.
As it arrives, The Death of Slim Shady instantly becomes Eminem’s highest-rising win on the Vinyl Albums chart. He’s never been so close to the summit before, which is exciting for him…but it also must be a bit frustrating to come so close to the throne, but miss it.
Before this week, two of Eminem’s projects were tied as his loftiest placements on the Vinyl Albums chart. Both The Marshall Mathers LP 2 and Music to Be Murdered By rose to No. 4 and stopped there.Eminem has sent just five of his full-lengths to Billboard’s vinyl ranking, which is a fairly low number, considering the fact that The Death of Slim Shady is his twelfth solo album. Two other collections, Curtain Call (the 20-song version) and Fortnite Radio (which was released following his show on the online platform) also reached the list. Coincidentally, they peaked at No. 8 several years apart from one another.
The Death of Slim Shady arrives on the Vinyl Albums chart months after it impacted other Billboard tallies. The set has now spent 16 weeks on the Billboard 200, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and Top Rap Albums rankings, as it’s never left them since it debuted.
