Exciting Twist in Fan Theory: ‘Agatha All Along’ Showrunner Confirms Deleted Scene with Alice Wu

Agatha All Along is the newest addition to the MCU, exploring the magical and supernatural aspects of the cinematic universe that were only lightly addressed in earlier projects.

The series introduces a host of new characters and mysteries, including Alice Wu, a protective witch.

Alice’s backstory is quite tragic. Her mother, a witch, struggled with an ancient curse that threatened both her life and Alice’s. This curse impacted Alice throughout her life.

Lorna died in a hotel fire linked to the curse, and many mistakenly believed she was killed on “The Witches Road.” Although Alice never fully embraced the idea of magic, she sensed that something unusual was happening, especially as she struggled to maintain stable employment.

In the second episode of Agatha All Along, Alice loses her job as a mall security guard when Agatha tries to recruit her into her coven; prior to that, she had worked as a police officer in Westview.

Recently, a fan account shared an intriguing theory suggesting that Alice may not have lost her police job because of the curse, but rather due to the effects of a sigil placed on her by Lilia Calderu.

Failing to provide a basic description and the name of a victim would be detrimental to anyone, so it’s understandable that Alice would lose her job due to her poor performance.

This theory appears to be supported by Jac Shaffer, the showrunner of Agatha All Along, who admitted that a deleted scene features Alice Wu struggling to write down details about Billy Kaplan.

No, no, no, no, it’s really complicated! And there is a scene that we cut for pacing, where Alice is interviewing Mr. Kaplan, and he keeps saying Billy’s name, and she can’t hear it. She keeps trying to write it down, she can’t hear it.

And it’s a great scene. They’re terrific performers. It’s a great scene. It’s just one of the many moments of like, it’s a pacing thing, and this is, it’s sort of a double beat. She also doesn’t really see his face, because he’s covered in blood and he’s in the backseat. And then later, Billy does know Jen because he knows her work, and her reputation, and her products.

If the fan theory holds true, it’s easy to see why Alice didn’t think much of her firing, as she was accustomed to having her life disrupted by forces beyond her control.

Unfortunately, we won’t get to hear Alice’s perspective on the Teen, especially since her character was killed off in Episode 5. In fact, her death was a pivotal moment that prompted the Teen to reveal his powers and true identity.

While Alice wasn’t killed by the curse—having managed to break it during Episode 4—she was ultimately slain by Agatha, who inadvertently (or perhaps purposefully) drained her life force while Alice was trying to protect her from Evanora Harkness.
