Fallout 5 release date narrowed down, but you're still in for a wait

A Fallout 5 release date may have been narrowed down, but we’re still going to be in for a very long wait indeed.

At this point, there’s probably more of a chance of getting a nuclear apocalypse before Bethesda finally releases Fallout 5, but at least it would make for an authentic experience for those of us who may survive.

Thankfully, even when playing Fallout games of yesteryear, this series is incredibly replayable which is why fans can never get enough of the likes of Fallout 4 and Fallout: New Vegas.

As for Fallout 5, we know that it’s arriving at some point, we just don’t know exactly when.

That being said, it’s probably safe to assume that it will likely arrive sometime after the release of The Elder Scrolls VI, another game yet to have a confirmed release date.

As reported by Tech4Gamers, in a previous episode of the Xbox Two podcast, industry insider Jez Corden claimed that the current plan for Microsoft and Bethesda is to launch Fallout 5 before 2030.

“They are formulating plans on how to get the next Fallout sooner rather than later,” he adds.

As disappointing as the “before 2030” release might be, it makes sense. Despite being announced during E3 2018, as stated, The Elder Scrolls VI does not have a release date.

If we’re lucky, it might arrive between 2026 and 2027.

This then leaves the door open for Fallout 5 with a release window of three to four years after The Elder Scrolls VI. Historically, we’ve had to wait many years between Fallout releases for the next mainline game.

For example, Fallout 4 was released about seven years after Fallout 3 (with the spin-off Fallout: New Vegas launching in between). However, at this point, we’re looking at the largest gap for the next release in the series.

Not including the multiplayer spin-off Fallout 76 which was released in 2018, with Fallout 4 releasing in 2015, the gap leading up to Fallout 5 could be a whopping 15 years.

We should take all speculation with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise and we can only speculate when Fallout 5 will be released, but we’ll be sure to update you once official information drops.
