Fans Are Debating How Strong Homelander Actually Is and Whether It Makes Any Sense to Compare Him to Superman

The Superman prototype of an American superhero is a concept that has long been very popular but as comics have gotten darker over the years, authors wanted to distort that prototype a little and the public seemed to like it. We know that the original Superman initiated a revolution in mainstream American superhero comics, but as we’ve said, the concept has been evolving since then.

Not only has Superman as a character has been evolving, but the concept has been used and reused in different ways, including the now-popular manner of distorting the concept into a villainous one. Invincible‘s Omni-Man, the protagonist of Brightburn, evil alternative versions of Superman, and – of course – The Boys‘ Homelander are prime examples of this.

In this report, we are going to comment on a recent online debate, initiated by popular insider DanelRPK, that aimed to determine just how strong Homelander is and whether he had any chance of beating Superman, the character he is a parody of.

Before we provide you with our arguments, we are first going to present you with some comments from the online debate that inspired this article, which started with this:

As far as we are concerned, Homelander cannot beat Superman. Sure, Homelander is powerful, but he is severely limited. He is the result of an experiment, whereas Superman’s powers are his own and while he does have a significant weakness, he still has so many abilities and secret moves that he could use against Homelander. They might be on par in terms of basic physical strength, but Superman far surpasses Homelander in every other category.
