CD Projekt Red’s next big game, Witcher 4, must not be rushed. Otherwise it will end up like Cyberpunk 2077.
A new installment in CD Projekt Red’s iconic Witcher series is confirmed to be in development. It’s been almost a decade since the release of the last Witcher game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and to make the release of the fourth game special, CD Projekt Red must not make this mistake it made with Cyberpunk 2077.

Everyone remembers how Cyberpunk 2077 had a disastrous start. The game was released in 2020 but was doomed with numerous bugs and performance issues. It took CD Projekt Red four years to finally make the game as good as it should’ve been at launch. Fans hope that the studio analyses its mistake to ensure it doesn’t rush the release of Witcher 4.

The Witcher series is special for many gamers all over the world. The announcement of the fourth game indeed created a lot of anticipation, however, some players are worried that CD Projekt Red might repeat the same mistake it made with Cyberpunk 2077.
In CD Projekt Red’s Q3 financial update, chief financial officer, Piotr Nielubowicz, revealed that Witcher 4 has entered full-scale production. He said,
I’m pleased to announce that several weeks ago [Polaris] moved to full-scale production – Of all our projects, this one is currently the most far along, and we’re starting the most intensive phase of development. I wish to thank the team for its effort and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for further progress.
In the past, Pawel Sasko, Associate Game Director at CDPR, has explained that the next Witcher game is “the most advanced of all of those.” The game is being developed with the independent studio The Molasses Flood. The studio has many different projects lined up but the entire focus is on Witcher 4 for now.
Cyberpunk 2077 Has Been Improved With Constant Updates

Cyberpunk 2077 was also one of CD Projekt Red’s highly anticipated games as it took roughly eight years to develop the game. Technically, the main development started after the release of 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game was released for PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One on 10th December 2020. The launch was horrible as the game was filled with bugs and gameplay issues, making it unplayable for many.
It took four years and countless updates to finally make Cyberpunk 2077 as good as it was promised to be and finally, the game has successfully sold 30 million copies. The release was rushed and it completely damaged CD Projekt Red’s image. Hopefully, the next Witcher game will allow the studio to redeem itself. After the release of Witcher 4, players can expect to hear some solid information about the studios’ Project Orion, which is a new game set in the Cyberpunk universe.
