The Marvels might not have done well in theaters, but it laid the groundwork for one of Marvel’s favorite superhero teams—the Young Avengers.
In the movie’s final scenes, Kamala Khan visits Kate Bishop to talk about teaming up and asks about Cassie Lang, who recently became the hero Stature after helping Ant-Man defeat Kang the Conqueror in the Quantum Realm.
When the movie first came out, rumors were everywhere about a possible Young Avengers project, but since then, there’s been no news or official confirmation from Marvel.
Recently, popular insider Alex Perez shared some updates during a Q&A session on Discord, giving fans a glimpse of what might be next for the team.
Perez explained that the Young Avengers will eventually form, with Kamala Khan leading the effort to recruit members. She’ll start with Kate Bishop and likely add Cassie Lang, while her main goal will align with Carol Danvers’ mission to rescue Monica Rambeau and uncover the secrets of her bangle.
Alex Perez shared that America Chavez could play a key role in future Avengers films, using her ability to travel between universes. She might help open the gateway to the alternate reality where Monica Rambeau is, connecting her story to the bigger MCU storyline.
They’re all going to come together eventually. The current idea seems to be Kamala recruiting the Young Avengers on her own atm, with Cassie Lang on her list after Kate Bishop. If I understand it correctly, her goal aligns with Carol’s in trying to find a way to get Monica back, as well as trying to find out more about her bangle.
America Chavez, as far as I understand it, had a role to play in the Avengers films due to her ability to travel from one universe to another and could tie into this, potentially her being the one that helps open the gateway that leads the Avengers to find Monica in the alternate world she is right now.
Perez shared his thoughts on who might join the Young Avengers. While some members like Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, Cassie Lang, and Wiccan are obvious choices, he also weighed in on other possible candidates.
The way it’s being set up? Probably, Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, America Chavez, Billy Kaplan, Tommy Shepard, Teddy Altman & Eli Bradley. Kid Loki’s definitely not going to be in this. Neither is Skaar. I don’t see Ironheart joining the team per se. And I know there were plans for Iron Lad with Nathaniel Richards but I don’t know if those were scrapped after the whole Jonathan Majors situation.
Alex Perez shared that a Wiccan series might not be needed since Billy and Agatha’s search for Tommy could be wrapped up quickly without stretching the story or downplaying Billy’s character.
He thinks their reunion after reincarnation will likely happen suddenly, like it has before. On Hulkling, Perez confirmed Marvel has plans to bring Teddy Altman into the MCU soon and purposely left him out of Agatha: All Along. This hints at bigger plans for Hulkling, possibly tied to the Young Avengers or another major project.
