If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter franchise, then prepare for loads of Wizarding World goodness with the new upcoming reboot TV series.
Based on the novels by author J.K. Rowling, to say that The Philosopher’s Stone took the entertainment industry by storm when the first Harry Potter movie arrived in 2001 would be an understatement. Since that time, it has earned millions of fans worldwide.
Outside of novels and movies, the Wizarding World franchise garnered great success in other forms of media such as the 2023 video game Hogwarts Legacy. Now we’re waiting for the highly anticipated live-action TV series from HBO.
At this time, there’s not a great deal that we know about the Harry Potter TV series, other than a new cast of actors will be playing the roles of its iconic characters.
The Harry Potter TV series will likely be a massive success, at least initially. Of course, there’s always a chance it might suck and get the chop after a few seasons.
However, it seems that Warner Bros. is already counting its chickens before they hatch because it looks like we might get 10 seasons.
As reported by ComicBook, when speaking to Deadline, CEO and president of global streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, JB Perrette, said he is preparing for a decade-long journey.
“As you look at [20]26 and into ’27, you begin a 10-year journey on the Harry Potter series, which we’re super excited about,” said Perrette. “And I’d argue, maybe the biggest event by the time we get to that series.”
Successful TV series, especially those with a big budget, can typically have a gap of nine months to a year in between. So if the Harry Potter TV series were to get 10 seasons, it could last anything up to 2035 to 2036.
No release date has been announced for the Harry Potter series but it is expected to premiere sometime in 2026 or 2027. We’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
