Hogwarts Legacy fans are torn as to whether the highly anticipated sequel should have multiplayer co-op.
It’s fair to say that Hogwarts Legacy is arguably the best video game inspired by Harry Potter’s Wizarding World that there has ever been to date.
Not only was it well-received as indicated by its respectable 83 Metacritic score, but it was also the best-selling game of 2023.
Given the critical and commercial success of Hogwarts Legacy, it makes sense that Warner Bros. would be keen on a sequel. After all, it’s a mega-corporation that likes money.
While Hogwarts Legacy 2 hasn’t been officially announced, Warner Bros. has suggested that a sequel is on the cards.
The original Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1890s but due to the upcoming Harry Potter TV series from HBO, it’s also been suggested that the sequel could have a modern setting to fall in line with the rebooted series. Whether that happens for sure, only time will tell.
At this time, we can only speculate what features Hogwarts Legacy 2 will have but some fans are calling for it to have co-op multiplayer, a feature that many would have loved to have seen in the original game.
“Hogwarts Legacy 2, needs to be co-op,” declared TheThinkingJacob. “As someone who cherishes family time, I can’t help but imagine how amazing it would be to journey through Hogwarts with my wife and daughters by my side.”
They continued: “My wife shares my love for the Wizarding World, and my daughters are just starting to discover the magic themselves. Playing together would not only allow us to bond over something we all enjoy, but also create memories that we would cherish forever.”
“I agree. There are so many good games for single-player, but few good co-op/multiplayer games,” Consistent-Hurry-868 replied. “My friend, who is a really big Harry Potter fan, didn’t buy Hogwarts Legacy because it wasn’t a multiplayer game and we thought it would.”
“The fact that the first one wasn’t at least two-player co-op is a travesty, although I can understand developer Avalanche Software not wanting to deal with maintaining multiplayer servers,” said minescast.
“The last thing any Hogwarts Legacy game needs is co-op/multiplayer,” replied OtterTheDruid with isxxcwdj simply saying, “No”.
Hogwarts Legacy is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
