Hogwarts Legacy fans heartbroken by quiet cancellation

Fans of Hogwarts Legacy are still flocking to the Harry Potter inspired RPG almost two-years on from its release.

However, the one thing they can agree on is that they wish there was more of it.

With developer Avalanche Software seemingly turning its attention to Hogwarts Legacy 2, it seems as though more content is off the table with a small summer update being the only thing we have seen so far.

Since its release in early 2023, Hogwarts Legacy has maintained a respectable player base for a single player game despite fans calling out for a Christmas update as well as more content in general.

However, as recently pointed out by one user over on r/HarryPotterGame, there was indeed more Hogwarts Legacy content that we were supposed to get over a year ago.

“So… was The Wizardry Behind Hogwarts Legacy cancelled or something?” they asked.

“It was supposed to be released last year. I have a feeling it was abandoned and we’ll probably never see it complete. It’s a pity because I was very curious to take a peek at the process behind the world building.”

The Wizardry Behind Hogwarts Legacy was supposed to be a behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of Hogwarts Legacy.

Posted to the official YouTube channel in September of last year, the trailer revealed that there would be a full-length feature film with “insight and deep dives into the creative process from the Avalanche Software team.”

However, it has been over a year since it was announced and we are yet to see the promised film.

“My thinking is they got more ideas for the sequel and definitive DLC so they started on it instead,” one player suggested.

It remains unclear why the movie has not yet been released and whether it has been delayed or cancelled altogether, but it would have been nice to see the process behind 2023’s best-selling game.
