Hogwarts Legacy is the gift that keeps on giving. Well, sort of.
Yes, the game’s wider world is a tad too cave and ruin focused, but Hogwarts itself is an all-time great in terms of gaming locations.
The reason I used the aforementioned ‘somewhat’ is because Hogwarts Legacy’s devs haven’t exactly been very forthcoming with post-launch content.
After all, I can’t imagine too many of us were thrilled with the long-awaited summer update consisting of a photo mode and a couple of cosmetics.
Players want new minigames (Perhaps more Summoner’s Court or Crossed Wands), additional quests, an expansion, a companion system … you name it. Anything.
It’s been months since it was leaked that a director’s cut of the game was in the works. Surely, that’s almost ready to come to fruition?
Could it make an appearance at tonight’s Game Awards? Who knows, but we may as well clown for such an eventuality.
In the meantime, allow me to fill you in on a fresh discovery to satiate our appetite for something new.
This is a lovely little detail that’s best appreciated by those of you who have read JK Rowling’s books.
Reddit user Top-Werewolf-6087 pointed out that “if you go to Professor Ronen’s office, you can go to ‘the school grounds’. This leads you to a place where you can unlock a gated room. This is the room where Sirius Black was kept between the dementor attack and Hermione and Harry rescuing him”.
I hadn’t noticed this but it’s nice to be able to walk through and get an idea of the space occupied during these story highlights that we’re all so familiar with.
The reason that this is only of interest to book fans is because in the film, it’s not clear where exactly Sirius is being held.
It’s supposedly Professor Flitwick’s office which, as a fellow professor of charms, would likely be the same as the aforementioned Ronen’s but then Sirius appears to be kept in a tower.
That aside though, this is still an enlightening little adventure worth embarking on to get a sense of the layout of the series’ story beats.
