The Penguin is doing amazing among the fans and critics. This is what everyone knows by now. The series has managed to become a proper hit for Max and is one of the best comic book series of all time, which is a fact that everyone agrees with, whether they are critics or fans.
Among the episodes that have aired so far, Episode 4, “Cent’anni,” is the one that stands out the most.
The episode was an “origin story” for Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone, which explained her complex relationship with her family, especially her brutal father, and how she ended up in Arkham. The actress provided a stellar performance, and everyone was absolutely stunned by the episode.
But, that’s not the end of it. With a 9.5/10 rating, Episode 4 of The Penguin is the third best-rated episode in the history of DC’s television series, i.e., in more than 72 years, which is when the first episode of Adventures of Superman aired. Only two episodes have a higher (9.6/10) rating.
As stated, The Penguin is a proper hit series that everyone loves. The story is evolving brilliantly, we have a great cast, and the overall direction of the show is one that everyone loves. Of course, there are always better episodes, and so far, Episode 4 is the one that definitely stands out.
“Cent’anni” is the episode that finally tells us the story of Sofia Falcone. She was described as “The Hangman,” which is in line with the comic books she appeared in, but it turns out that there is a very dark twist to that, and once Sofia finds out the truth, she becomes a victim of her own family and their brutality.
Cristin Milioty provided a stellar performance, showing everything that was needed to make her character believable and convincing, giving the already complex story yet another layer of brilliance.
The episode received universal acclaim and on IMDb, as of the time of writing, the episode holds a record 9.5/10 rating, the best one in the series. But, it’s not just the series; namely, this episode is one of the best ones in history as far as DC’s shows are concerned, in fact, the third best one in 72 years since the first live-action DC show, Adventures of Superman, premiered in 1952.
As you know, there have been numerous adaptations throughout the decades, but “Cent’anni” managed to beat out almost all the others. The only two episodes that have a higher rating – both standing at 9.6/10 as of the time of writing – are the Arrow‘s “Lian Yu” (Short synopsis: The battle between Oliver and Adrian Chase culminates on the island of Lian Yu, where Oliver recruits a group of unlikely allies to fight Chase.)
And The Flash‘s “Out of Time” (Short synopsis: Mark Mardon aka The Weather Wizard appears in Central City to avenge his brother’s death at the hands of Joe. And Cisco realizes that Dr. Wells is hiding something.).
This is definitely an achievement that we had to talk about, and we are extremely happy that The Penguin is doing so well.
