‘Agatha All Along’ just released its final two episodes. The ending was a mix of happy and sad but hinted at a good future for Wiccan, Jennifer, and possibly Agatha.
Agatha’s story in the MCU has wrapped up, but there is still a chance to bring her back later. So, what are the chances of the show getting a second season?
Keep in mind that the following paragraphs contain extreme spoilers for ‘Agatha All Along.’ Read at your own risk.
In the final two episodes, the show explains what happened to Nicholas Scratch and what went down between Agatha and Rio Vidal, also known as Death, many years ago. It turns out Agatha was supposed to have a stillbirth, but Rio, who loved her, couldn’t save her son from dying. Instead, he gave him a little more time in exchange for Agatha promising to bring him a steady supply of witch bodies. It was a trade of many souls for one.
During their time together, Agatha and Nicholas created the idea of the Witches Road. After Nicholas died, Agatha continued to promote this idea, leading many witches to believe in it. Sadly, it was just a trick so Agatha could take their magic and life force.
The show also revealed that Billy created the Witches Road using his powerful reality-altering abilities, suggesting that his powers might be even stronger than those of his mother, the Scarlet Witch.
Billy was always looking for his twin brother, and he finally found him. Agatha and Billy focused and discovered a boy who was about to drown. Billy (presumably) guided his brother’s soul into a now-empty body, similar to how he ended up in Billy Kaplan’s body.
What Billy didn’t realize was that Death was always after him. The fact that he was alive was against natural laws, and Rio had to fix it. Unfortunately, Billy had to face her alone. If he didn’t, she would just kill him, but then he would be reborn into another form.
Agatha made another deal with Death, promising to deliver Billy. Billy was close to sacrificing himself to save Agatha when the old witch changed her mind. Rio came to “reap” either Billy or Agatha, and in the end, she took Agatha, allowing Billy to live freely.
However, Agatha returned as a ghost and admitted she couldn’t face her son after all these years. Billy reassured her that Nicholas wouldn’t hate her, but Agatha chose to stick around a bit longer, suggesting she would help Billy find her newly reincarnated brother, Tommy.
The show wrapped up Agatha’s character story while leaving others open, like Jennifer’s, Billy’s, and even Rio’s. We still don’t know what Rio is planning or what Jennifer will do now that she has her powers back.
We believe the characters will show up in future projects, but it’s unlikely that there will be a second season of Agatha All Along. First, the show is a miniseries, and it was only meant to have the initial nine episodes. While Loki got a second season, that’s because the character plays a huge role in the Multiverse Saga and Kang’s story.
Agatha’s story isn’t as important, even though the show is one of the best in the MCU.
Additionally, Marvel Studios is reportedly working on a Midnight Sons project based on the comic book team. This is probably where Jennifer’s story will continue since she is connected to two Ghost Riders and the team deals with magical and supernatural issues.
Besides the Midnight Sons project, there are also rumors that Marvel Studios is creating a solo project about Wiccan and his search for his brother. Even if Agatha All Along doesn’t get a second season, this new project could serve as a follow-up. Since Agatha promised Wiccan she would help him find his brother, it’s likely she will appear in that project.
Wiccan is expected to be in the upcoming project about the Young Avengers since he is a key member of the team in the comics. There have also been hints that the MCU will adapt the Children’s Crusade storyline.
This isn’t the end for the magical characters, but it seems unlikely that Agatha All Along will have a second season, and there hasn’t been any news about it so far. If they decide to renew the series, we might have to wait several weeks for an announcement.
