Is Star Wars Canon One Step Closer To Having The Perfect Live-Action Revan?

The critically acclaimed 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic introduced Revan as a customizable player character, and later works from the Legends continuity would expand on Revan’s backstory and give him a canonical appearance and gender. Revan’s canonical appearance has, notably, led to one particular actor becoming a popular casting choice for a hypothetical live-action iteration of the Sith Lord-turned Jedi Knight.

Revan has a long and detailed history in the Star Wars Legends continuity, initially being a Jedi Knight but falling to the dark side and becoming the dreaded Sith Lord Darth Revan. Due to a Force-powered memory wipe, Revan forgets his dark past and is eventually retrained as a Jedi, remaining on the Jedi path even after discovering that he had once been a Sith Lord. Revan, along with many other popular Star Wars Legends characters, was initially absent from the modern Star Wars canon after the franchise underwent a partial reboot in April 2014.

Revan was eventually confirmed to exist in the modern Star Wars canon via an Easter egg in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The Sith Eternal army names its legions after famous Sith Lords, with the 3rd Legion also being known as the Revan Legion. While the modern canon has revealed little else about the new version of Revan, a future property could bring him into the realm of live-action, with the popular choice of Keanu Reeves potentially playing the Sith Lord.

Star Wars Is Reportedly Interested In Casting Keanu Reeves

Keanu Reeves was reportedly considered as a potential actor for Jedi Master Sol in The Acolyte. Reeves was, ultimately, passed over in favor of Lee Jung-jae, yet Lucasfilm is reportedly still interested in casting Reeves in another role. Although there are no known plans for a live-action Star Wars property that explores the Knights of the Old Republic’s era in the new timeline, Reeves would be the ideal actor for Revan, if Lucasfilm ever decides to create a reimagined version of the iconic Sith Lord in live-action.

Knights of the Old Republic allows players to not only customize Revan’s appearance and gender, but also choose whether the former Sith Lord remains a Jedi or falls to the dark side yet again. Various works eventually confirmed that Revan remained a Jedi and was male, with one specific appearance option being his canonical one. Players have noted the canonical Revan appearance’s vague resemblance to Keanu Reeves, leading him to be the preferred casting choice for a live-action Revan. If a future live-action Star Wars property ever includes Revan, Keanu Reeves would be the ideal actor for the role.
