Considering the turmoil she has been through this year, Jennifer Lopez’s childhood is a perfect reminder why she shouldn’t worry about anything.
Jennifer Lopez would strike you as a confident individual who has achieved almost everything as a public figure, actress, and singer. But people like her are also human beings at the end of the day, who struggle with severe battles in life that could rip them apart. Her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, stands as a testament to this. Despite finding a lot of success in Hollywood, he still struggles outside of the industry battling various personal issues and alcoholism.

J-Lo has never had it easy in life growing up in the Bronx, New York. She recently revealed certain details of her upbringing that will make fans and haters rethink their decision to critique her work, specifically the events that occurred following the release of her latest movie which spoke about her love life.
Jennifer Lopez opens up about her struggle with low self-esteem
Each person has a specific role to play in life and while some experience the highest of highs, a lot of individuals have it rough. This often tends to force people to doubt themselves which is another excruciatingly painful obstacle to deal with.
Recently, the Let’s Get Loud hitmaker was interviewed by the iconic Nikki Glaser on Interview Magazine. The American singer opened up about her struggle dealing with low self-esteem, something that Glaser also admitted battling.
Lopez revealed she developed low self-esteem because of how her parents treated her while she was much younger. She said,
It was just being ignored, being a middle child, having a very outgoing mom and a dad who worked all day and worked all night and feeling like you weren’t important, like you weren’t a priority.
This is something a lot of children deal with, especially as they move into their teenage years. And it’s never an easy feeling to navigate through, understandably.
However, the 55-year-old claimed that though it has had its effects on her as an adult, she understands why her parents did certain things because she’s now a mother of two children.
Jennifer Lopez keeps reminding herself that she’s done well in life
As certain struggles often become overwhelming, they tend to shape you up for harder battles that may come much later in life. For the Maid in Manhattan star, the struggles that she faced as a child helped her develop a barrier from feeling upset over things people in her adult life may do.

But there’s one thing that Jennifer Lopez does to help herself feel better, she reminds herself that she’s done and achieved enough for her not to be worried about what happens outside of that bracket. She told Glaser,
You don’t even really know until those things start manifesting in your actual adult relationships. “Oh, I’m comfortable with this person ignoring me. I’m comfortable with this person treating me this way or that way.” That, for me, has been a journey. I think my whole life I’ve just been trying to say I’m good enough, until where I am now, when I know. I’m giving myself credit.
Lopez has had a tough year this time around, dealing with a tragic divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024, after two years of being together. She also had to deal with canceling her tour due to poor ticket sales (via News Nation).
Unfortunately, things got extremely out of hand following the release of her movie called This Is Me… Now: A Love Story. Fans trolled her for the complicated love life she’s had with Affleck and a few others, which is what inspired the film’s storyline.
But having reached a particular level in life, Lopez certainly feels that she shouldn’t be worried about what the world has to say about her or how they treat her, based on what was conveyed to Glaser.
This Is Me… Now: A Love Story can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
