Holly Willoughby, has had an impressive ITV career with notable presenting roles on Dancing on Ice, This Morning and Celebrity Juice under her belt.

The 44-year-old will return to screen this weekend for the final of Dancing On Ice with her co-host Stephen Mulhern, which she has now been presenting since 2006.

Being such a high profile TV host who has lived her life in the spotlight for many years, Holly’s career is sure to come with some stressful moments.

However, it’s her husband, television producer Dan Baldwin, who provides a much-needed sense of humour behind the scenes, particularly during demanding times or moments when Holly could take herself too seriously.

In her book ‘Reflections’, Holly opens up about her relationship, confessing Dan’s talent for lightening the mood.

She said: “My husband makes me laugh all the time. He’s the master of defusing situations by reminding us both of the funny side.”

Dan’s comedic touch isn’t just helpful in the good times; it also comes in handy during conflict, as Holly explains: “If we’re having a disagreement about something, he can derail me and send me into giggles by saying something, and before you know it, the issue doesn’t seem quite so serious and we can resolve it with a more level head.”

Family life is another area where Dan’s humour plays a key role; Holly praises its benefits for their three children, Harry, Belle, and Chester.

The couple’s own story began on the set of Ministry of Mayhem on ITV in the early 2000s, leading to their marriage in 2007.

Open about the efforts required to maintain a healthy marriage, Holly admitted to the Mirror: “Marriage is something we have to work at.”

She’s quick to remind fans that while marriage shouldn’t be constantly taxing, believing it’s effortless is not realistic. Additionally, she acknowledges how fatigue can strain a partnership.

Holly spoke fondly of her relationship with Dan, highlighting their strong bond: “I mean obviously I really love Dan. We really have a good laugh together and I don’t want to sound like a massive cliché but we get on really well… I rely on him for a lot of stuff. I think we just work better as a pair.”

One memorable moment they shared was the proposal, which caught Holly off guard due to its intimate and unexpected nature while she was in the bath.

Looking back on that special moment, she shared: “I know a lot of people almost have to force their boyfriend to propose but with Dan it was such a shock.”

Holly further elaborated on the emotional impact of the proposal: “I knew I’d be with him for the rest of my life, if he’d have me, but nothing can ever prepare you for what it’s like when someone asks you. I can’t think of any other big decision you make in your life that quickly.”
