Jenna Ortega couldn’t return to the hit series, You, because of scheduling conflicts with shooting Wednesday.
Jenna Ortega is arguably the biggest star in the world right now, and she had to leave another hit series because of Wednesday. Indiewire revealed that the plan was to have Ortega return to You for Season 4, but scheduling conflicts got in the way of her returning. According to showrunner Sera Gamble, “We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, ‘Oh, Jenna is doing some show.’”
That “some show” happened to be the mega-hit series, Wednesday, which skyrocketed into the number three most-watched show in Netflix history. Interestingly, Jenna Ortega’s You character, Ellie Alves, was one of the only ones to survive having a friendship with Joe. Ellie is mentioned in Season 3 of the series and was scheduled to be brought back for Season 4.
Gamble added, “We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again.” Although Jenna Ortega is massively busy, it sounds like she will be welcomed back with open arms, should her schedule permit her to return to the world of You. Unfortunately, Ortega has quite a stacked schedule currently.
Penn Badgley and Jenna Ortega in You
Jenna Ortega will return for Wednesday Season 2, which was finally approved by the streaming company. While Netflix has been canceling shows a lot lately, they made the great decision to move forward on bringing back this new Addams Family iteration. We assume that production for the series is currently happening.
Jenna Ortega’s not being able to return to You is also because she is continuing her horror exploits, as she is set to return as Tara Carpenter in Scream VI. Although the movie is completed, we would imagine that she is going to be quite busy with the promotional tour that is going to precede the March 10 release date. We certainly can’t wait to see her return in the next chilling Scream movie.
Jenna Ortega is also set to reunite with one of her co-stars from Wednesday, Percy Hynes White, in a movie called Winter Spring Summer or Fall. The romantic drama will follow two teens as they fall in love over four days of the year. The movie is currently in the post-production stages, so it is likely to be released at the beginning of 2024.
You Season 4 has been broken into two parts. The first five episodes have been released today on Netflix, with the second five having a planned release on March 9. Jenna Ortega clearly did not have the time to be added to this season, but she could potentially make it for Season 5 if her schedule gives her some time to sneak in another appearance. We would imagine that You is chomping at the bit to bring her back, especially considering how massively popular she is.
For now, everyone can see Jenna Ortega return in the previously mentioned Scream VI, which will debut on March 10. It may be some time before we see Ortega return as Wednesday Addams, but 2024 is the safe bet for Season 2 to be released. When it comes to Jenna Ortega having the time to appear in You again, we would say that might not happen, considering her jam-packed schedule.
