“The Diplomat” star revealed she went as far as getting hypnotized in order to keep her sweating in check.
Keri Russell is still sweating over the time she met Hillary Clinton.
While visiting Late Night on Monday, the Diplomat actress revealed that her role on the Netflix political thriller has allowed her the opportunity to meet multiple dignitaries over the years, including the former Secretary of State.
“I’m like the least interesting, educated person in that room but it’s [amazing],” Russell explained of her encounter. “I mean being at that table with Hillary, and I think that night was about 20 women, these incredibly established brilliant women in London. And it was just incredible.”

It was also plenty nerve-wracking. “I’m sweating the entire time,” she added. “I am a sweater.”
Host Seth Meyers asked when Russell exactly when one starts to get nervous when getting the chance to meet Clinton. “I’m sweating when I’m thinking about going,” she answered. To which Meyers replied, “So you’re already laying out a real otter’s paw.”
Russell maintained that she tried to at least outwardly keep her cool. “No, I’m sure I’m wiping it,” she said of her sweaty hands. “I’m nervous!”
She’s even sought some unique measures to prevent any awkward sweaty situations in the future, including getting hypnotized to sweat less. When asked if it was an effective method, Russell simply responded, “Well, I don’t know. I was hypnotized.”
“I feel like that’s what the hypnotist told you,” Meyers teased. “He’s like, ‘Now, remember, you’re not gonna know if this works, ‘cause you were hypnotized.’”
“No, I did do it,” she declared. “And who knows what they did? I mean, but I think it did work a little bit. I don’t know!”
She’ll have to find out the next time she meets Clinton. For now, watch Russell talk about sweating in the clip above.
