The show, which boasts a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, has only two negative reviews to date with a very strong 7.60 out of 10 overall score. It’s a success from its marketing, which slyly pitched it as a rom-com between The O.C.‘s Seth Cohen and Veronica Mars. Even though Joanne and Noah do echo their famous breakout performances in some ways, their dynamic in Nobody Wants This is all its own.

Bell executive produces the series, as does Modern Family co-creator Steve Levitan, and the cast also includes Sherry Cola, Paul-Ben Victor, and The Good Place star D’Arcy Carden .

Having been scene partners before in the 2013 film Some Girl(s) and the Showtime series House of Lies, Brody and Bell bring familiarity to their first time acting opposite each other as romantic leads. It’s helped by strong writing, which finds interesting ways to present rom-com tropes and a strong supporting group of actors that have their own engaging stories by the time the finale rolls around.
