It comes years after Dax shared that he and Kristen have undergone a “tremendous amount” of therapy to simply “coexist.”
If there’s one thing we know about Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, it’s that they’ve always been open about the hardships of their marriage.

Kristen, 43, and Dax, 49, have been together since 2007. They tied the knot in 2013, months after welcoming their first child, Lincoln.
Shortly afterwards, the pair welcomed their second child, Delta, in December 2014.
Over the years, both Kristen and Dax have spoken candidly about working hard to uphold their marriage.

“We are opposites, and it has taken a tremendous amount of work and therapy for us to coexist,” he said, before saying that relationships are “labor intensive” if you “want them to last.”
The pair have also detailed their explicit arguments, with Kristen revealing in 2020 that they had a fight so intense that they “blacked out.”

“I don’t actually remember what happened, but what transpired was a lot of volume, a lot of harsh words being thrown around, and it was an angry, angry fight about how nobody does anything for anybody else,” she said.
Now, Kristen has opened up about the early days of her and Dax’s relationship, revealing that they started going to couples therapy just six months in.

Appearing on SiriusXM’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name with Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson (sometimes) podcast this week, Kristen recalled going to couple’s therapy with Dax “right off the bat” because they were both “really stubborn.”

“We went to therapy a lot our first and second year, because we’re both really stubborn,” she shared.

The podcast hosts immediately questioned this, suggesting that it seemed too soon to need couple’s therapy just one year into a relationship. To this, Kristen confirmed that they went in the “first six months.”

Kristen’s latest comments come years after she explained why she and Dax choose to share the hardships of their marriage with the world.
“Something happened with Dax and I early on where we decided we were never going to not be asked about our relationship,” she shared. “So if we were going to talk about it, let’s make sure we show the good, the bad, and the ugly and how we handle it… We talk about the fact that we do fight, we do go to therapy, we dislike each other a lot sometimes.”
