Light of Motiram, a survival crafting game from Tencent’s subsidiary, Polaris Quest, is coming to PC, PlayStation, iOS, and Android.

Tencent’s subsidiary, Polaris Quest, recently revealed its controversial new title, Light of Motiram. The game blends mechanical creatures and survival mechanics that require players to build bases and train “Mechanimals” to survive. Sound familiar? That’s because it closely resembles Sony’s Horizon Zero Dawn with an added pinch of Palworld.

However, there is one key difference between all these titles: Light of Motiram will not only come to PC and PlayStation but also on iOS and Android. This announcement has left the gaming community in shock. What many are overlooking, though, is Tencent’s extensive experience and expertise in mobile game development, built over years of experience.

Unlike Sony, which has built a reputation for creating high-quality, exclusive gaming experiences within a closed ecosystem, Tencent understands the potential of mobile gaming, a market that is growing rapidly, especially in regions like China where mobile devices dominate.
Thanks to this understanding, the company has gained valuable experience and developed expertise in adapting large-scale games for mobile devices, making them work seamlessly across various platforms, from consoles to PCs to even smartphones.
Whether it’s streamlining graphics to ensure smooth performance on lower-end phones or even taking advantage of cloud gaming technology, it has mastered them all. So, the announcement that Light of Motiram is going to have a mobile version is not fully unexpected.
This ability to adapt to the mobile market is a key reason why releasing the game for iOS and Android was a natural next step. It allows the company and its subsidiaries to reach a much broader audience without compromising on core gameplay. Gamers are now waiting to see more information about gameplay and release date.
Why Sony Won’t Even Attempt to Unlock Its Titles’ Mobile Potential

For years, Sony has always prioritized the visual fidelity and immersive experience of its flagship franchises, like Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. These games are built from the ground up to showcase the capabilities of its new and high-end consoles, like PS5 and PS5 Pro.
However, this attention to detail and commitment to an optimal gaming experience means that only a select number of devices (primarily their own consoles) are capable of running these games at their best. As a result, even PC platforms get very few exclusive ports. (Still waiting for Bloodborne)
For them, making a Horizon game for mobile would mean sacrificing visual quality, gameplay fluidity, and overall experience (Even losing exclusivity). And that’s a compromise the company is unwilling to make, as it could undermine the very essence of the Horizon franchise or even others.
In the end, it is clear that while Sony is trying to perfect its high-definition worlds, Tencent is busy bringing the video games straight to your pocket, ready to turn your smartphone into an epic battlefield.
