The Lord of the Rings star looks set to play a terrifying Spider-Man villain appearing for the first time in the upcoming Venom: The Last Dance.
It’s expected that Tom Hardy’s last outing as Eddie Brock will conclude with the third and final movie in Sony’s Venom series, The Last Dance. It’s also safe to assume that whatever happens in Venom: The Last Dance, will have implications for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4.
In Venom: The Last Dance, we will be introduced to Knull, a menacing supervillain who will make his appearance in live-action form for the very first time. Knull made his unknown debut in the 2013 comic Thor: God of Thunder #6 before making his presence known in 2018’s Venom Vol. 4 #3.
Since 2018, at least in the world of comic books, Knull, created by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman, is considered to be one of the most powerful Marvel villains and one of his most impressive accolades is that he’s the creator of symbiote.
If handled with the respect that this character deserves, he could be Sony’s answer to Thanos. However, whether the live-action version of Knull has his potential fulfilled is another matter.
That being said, as reported by Dexerto (via DanielRPK), there seems to be at least one aspect of Knull that has made a positive first step because he’s reportedly being played by The Lord of the Rings actor, Andry Serkis who played Gollum in the Peter Jackson adaptations.
It would be a total waste to use Knull exclusively in Venom: The Last Dance and if this is Tom Hardy’s last time playing the role of Eddie Brock, I would hope that Knull could be headed for Peter Parker next.
Andy Serkis being cast as Knull is unconfirmed speculation at this time and it’s perhaps worth considering that he’s not listed as a cast member on IMDB. However, in this case, I believe there is no smoke without fire.
