What we wouldn’t give to avoid cancellations of our favourite shows.
Yet another MCU series seems to have been culled for good, leaving fans saddened by its loss.
Marvel’s editor in chief, C. B. Cebulski, has revealed that there are “no plans to continue” Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Perhaps this isn’t too surprising given how long it’s been since the TV show first aired.
That said, long gaps between seasons isn’t totally unheard of. What is more, hope has a funny way of keeping us hooked even when we know the end is nigh.
Thank goodness there’s lots of new content coming from Marvel Studios in the not too distant future
Even though the characters “mostly got good resolutions” to their stories, some fans feel that the show isn’t treated with the respect it deserves.
“The characters mostly got good resolutions, and the show got wrapped up well. I’d like the show to be treated with the respect it earned though,” posted MasterAnnatar on Reddit.
What is more, there are Marvel fans who believe the show benefits the wider MCU because it ties it all together.
User meme_abstinent said, “The MCU benefited from SHIELD appearing in multiple movies and tying them together, bringing it back could help.”
“Thats a shame. I’d love to see them again,” commented KlausLoganWard.
Although not everyone is heartbroken by this development, it’s clear that the series was beloved by many.
Moreover, its loss reveals that fans would like it acknowledged more by Marvel and the MCU moving forward.
We can’t stay sad for long though, not when Marvel has teased an MCU sequel we’re all desperate to see.
When one door closes, another opens. Maybe. It’s too early to say, but the hints are there.
Maybe one day Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will return – it’s not like it’s been completely ruled out.
Still, it’s very unlikely to happen any time soon.
