Could Marvel be setting up a Secret Empire adaptation under our noses?
Well then good news, because regardless of who your favourite is, they’re almost certainly going to be reprising their role in the 39th film in Disney’s never-ending franchise.
As revealed by Deadline, Chris Evans will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland.
However, buried amongst all the hype of Deadline’s big Chris Evans scoop was another bit of important casting news.
The outlet also revealed that Anthony Mackie will also be reprising his role as Sam Wilson in Avengers: Doomsday… or at least, that’s the role everyone is assuming he’ll be taking on.
Considering we already know that Avengers: Doomsday is going to be a multiversal affair, with Robert Downey Jr. taking on the role of Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man, it’s not out of the question that some of the cast members might be taking on different roles.
Most have assumed that Chris Evans will be reprising his role as Captain America again, but it’s more than possible that he might be playing a sinister version of the character instead.
This would make a lot of sense considering Sam Wilson has officially taken up the Captain America mantle, so seeing him go up against a Hydra-brainwashed version of Steve Rogers (as was the case in the Secret Empire comic book series) could be a more fitting turn for the duo.
We’ll have to wait until May 2026 to see how it all pans out, but my money is on Hydra-Cap making an appearance.
Or maybe Chris Evans will just play Johnny Storm again. Would be extra funny this time around, considering that all of the cast members of The Fantastic Four: First Steps will also be in the film…
