International Lesbian Day, celebrated annually on October 8th, is a day dedicated to recognizing and honoring lesbians, and their contributions to society, culture, and the LGBTQ+ community. It provides a platform to promote visibility, acknowledge the unique challenges lesbians face, and celebrate their identity and love.

In recent years, the MCU has gradually increased the representation of diverse demographics in its projects, so it’s no surprise that Marvel Studios chose to mark the day with a fitting tribute post.

The studio’s official X profile shared a photo of Agatha and Rio Plaza during their emotional moment, accompanied by green and purple hearts symbolizing their elemental alignments—Rio as the Green (Earth) Witch and Agatha as the Spirit Witch.

While lesbian relationships have been subtly hinted at in the MCU, most recently between Valkyrie and Carol Danvers in ‘The Marvels,’ this marks the first time viewers came close to witnessing a kiss between two women.

Before the show aired, both Hahn and Plaza teased that there was “something more” between Agatha and Rio Vidal. Later episodes hinted that the two were romantically involved in the past, but something tragic occurred, leaving Rio with a lasting emotional “Agatha-shaped scar.”

Initially, the show faced accusations of “queerbaiting,” but episode 4 put those doubts to rest. In the scene, Rio and Agatha embrace and nearly kiss, before realizing it might not be the best choice.

It’s also confirmed that Rio Vidal serves as a romantic antagonist to Agatha, leaving fans eager to see what’s next. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
