Despite her death, Agatha is still around in the MCU. Agatha All Along‘s ending saw a ghost version of Agatha team up with Joe Locke’s Billy Maximoff to find his brother, Tommy. While that quest seems like the logical next step for Agatha in the MCU, there is a way for Hahn to return as a version of the witch before then. That possible appearance would come in a 2025 MCU movie, and it could lead to Agatha Harkness’ return to life thanks to a new Marvel theory.
An Agatha Harkness Variant Could Debut In The MCU In 2025
Kathryn Hahn’s Marvel Character Connects To An Upcoming Team
2025 will be a packed year for Marvel. Between the slate of TV shows that were recently announced to premiere on Disney+ and the three movies scheduled for release, the MCU will be busy next year. One of those projects could feature the surprise return of Agatha Harkness with a twist. After several years, Marvel’s First Family comes to the MCU in July 2025, and there is a path for Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness to make her way to The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ cast, and it connects to the comics.
Sue Storm was seen with a baby on the set of The Fantastic Four: First Steps after rumors about Sue and Reed’s children, Franklin and Valeria Richards, being in the movie emerged. That could lead to a version of Agatha Harkness from the Fantastic Four’s universe — the movie does not take place in the main MCU Earth — appearing. There are a few reasons for that. Agatha was Franklin’s nanny in the comics. Add that to the movie’s 1960s setting, which fits Agatha’s WandaVision aesthetic, and the Fantastic Four film being directed by WandaVision‘s Matt Shakman, and Agatha’s inclusion looks possible.
MCU Theory: Agatha Harkness Steals A New Body
The New Agatha Harkness Could Have A Tragic Future
Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness is currently a ghost in the MCU, but the inclusion of an Agatha variant in The Fantastic Four: First Steps could change that. The MCU has already shown that characters can possess the bodies of their multiverse variants through the use of dark magic. The Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange both used that skill in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Adding to that, Agatha All Along also showed that ghosts can take over someone else’s body, as Agatha’s mother, Evanora Harkness, took over hers for a short time.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set on another Earth. With Galactus being the movie’s villain, the MCU theory suggests that he could win against the Marvel team and devour their planet. In an effort to escape being killed, Reed Richards and the rest of the Fantastic Four travel through the multiverse and end up on the main MCU Earth, taking the kids’ nanny, Agatha, with them. The MCU theory goes on to explain how, after sensing a variant of hers, the ghost Agatha decides to take over her body, with Hahn’s Agatha Harkness coming back to life in 2025.
How Agatha Harkness’ Story Can Continue After Agatha All Along
The Witch Could Appear In Multiple MCU Movies & Shows
Besides a possible role in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Agatha should still have plenty to do in the MCU. Even if Marvel does not renew Agatha All Along for season 2, there are potential projects that could use the witch. Agatha has to help Billy find his brother. That could happen in one of many possible projects. A Wiccan series would be the ideal way to go about it. Billy and Agatha could also appear in the Vision series to find both Tommy and White Vision in one fell swoop, or a Young Avengers project could be in play.
Based on the MCU theory, Agatha could feel bad for taking over her variant’s body. As such, this could lead the character down a path of redemption, which is in line with her ending in Agatha All Along. If she were to take her variant’s body to stop being a ghost, then Agatha could find in the Midnight Sons the perfect way to atone for her sins. The supernatural team is rumored to be coming to the MCU, and a dark squad that takes out threats like demons and vampires is perfect for Agatha Harkness to do some good.
