The release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for PC was a rocky one for Sony, as the game launched with myriad bugs, glitches, and as some players noted, unplayable moments.

Since then, the developers have been hard at work to bring Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 up to scratch via updates and subtle downloads.

Nixxes Software, who oversaw the port of the successful PlayStation 5 title, has snuck out a new update you can download now.

The fourth patch for the game brings a number of visual improvements tied to GPU and CPU performance, which should improve the fidelity of areas with sand.

This will also provide a boost to ray tracing effects, which were struggling noticeably upon launch.

Among the other fixes, shadows will be improved in symbiote nests – they persisted after destruction previously – and excessive lighting was causing other shadows to look out of place.

Ray traced reflections have also received some attention, with ambient occlusion getting some work by Nixxes.

This should improve the overall feel of the visuals, which many players complained about previously.

Of course, there’s the generic “bugs and fixes” as part of the update, which should improve overall stability.

One issue of the game crashing when quitting the game and starting it again soon after, should now be patched out.

The developers will continue to work on the game via upcoming updates.

Fans were eager to swing through New York and prevent the symbiote threat when the game came to PC recently, but found themselves disappointed by the state of the game.

Hopefully, the game will start to stabilise over the coming months and provide players with the amazing experience many had over on PlayStation.
