Ghost Rider, one of Marvel’s best anti-heroes, is seemingly on his way to the MCU – and fans are hyped.
Ghost Rider made his debut in issue five of the Marvel Spotlight comic in August 1972, when a legend was born and his first deal with the devil was made.
Since that time, there have been various iterations of Ghost Rider, but I think most of us can agree that the stunt motorcyclist turned supernatural entity Johnny Blaze is the best.
Ghost Rider has made a few live-action appearances, most notably in the 2007 movie starring Nicolas Cage, as well as its 2011 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
He also appeared on the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but that character was the Robbie Reyes version of the anti-hero.
In the past, Keanu Reeves has declared his interest in playing the role.
It’s not too late to make that happen. Marvel fans have been desperate for Ghost Rider to appear in the MCU and some are now speculating that time could be happening soon.
It seems that seeds may have been planted for the return of Ghost Rider in the Disney Plus series Agatha All Along, and TV and movie industry insider Alex Perez has backed that up, hinting that Johnny Blaze could be headed to the MCU.
In the world of Marvel comics, Agatha All Along character Jennifer Kale (played by Sasheer Zamata) is closely attached to Ghost Rider in some stories and with her expected to return at some point in the MCU, fans hope that Johnny Blaze will come along for the ride.
Answering a question during a Q&A related to Jennifer Kale and Ghost Rider, Alex Perez replied: “There is a possibility. But I know there are plans for her to return.”
Obviously, we should take this speculation with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, but that hasn’t stopped Marvel fans from being understandably excited.
“Midnight Suns?” suggests MArcherCD
“I reckon they were setting up Blade and the inevitable ensemble movie,” said Haradion_01. “The ‘Doctor’ who is somehow still alive, would have been a vampire. And her vital medical research would have included work on a vampire cure. Perhaps she was the midwife who delivered Blade, the mythical day walker?”
“It would make sense if she, as the descendent of the Spirit of Vengeance, is possessing Danny Ketch [another Ghost Rider] as well as Johnny,” explained Bosscharacter.
Hopefully, Marvel and Disney will put us all out of our misery soon because I think most of us would love to see Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch make a deal with the devil in the MCU.
