This kind of showdown is one you want front row seats to, even if you’ve not been enjoying the MCU of late.

A lot of potentially massive fights look set to take place in the MCU.

If you thought Marvel was going through a dry spell, think again.

We’ve already heard that Wolverine is returning to fight one of the founding Avengers, at least according to an industry insider.

And now we have our first tease of an intergalactic showdown that’s going to happen in Avengers: Doomsday.

Captain America could be about to face-off against Doctor Doom.

During an interview with Nerdbunker, Anthony Mackie was asked about the possibility of him battling Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

To this, Mackie replied, “Robert Downey Jr. has had his ass-kick coming for a long time, and I’m very proud to say he [is] going to get it!”

Those be fighting words!

Of course, they’re also playful ones as well.

It’s clear that Mackie is excited to share the screen with Downey Jr. again.

Who might throw a punch or two at Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom beyond Captain America remains to be seen. There are rumours, of course, but Marvel is playing this one close to the chest.

Regardless of who else joins Cap in his battle against Doom, Phase 6 looks set to be quite the explosive chapter in the MCU.

Sadly though, such change also marks the passing of beloved characters as they hint at leaving the MCU behind for good.

We’re sure Marvel will have plenty more hits and misses in its future.

That said, I think we can all agree that a Cap vs Doctor Doom showdown is not to be missed.
