In October 2022, it was announced that ‘Vision Quest’ was in development, with Jac Schaeffer as head writer and executive producer. By May 2023, Eileen Shim had also joined the series as a writer.
Jac Schaeffer then shifted focus to ‘Agatha All Along,’ and now ‘Vision Quest’ is being led by Terry Matalas. With Matalas taking charge, this marks Marvel’s first new live-action TV series in almost two years, showing a change in their approach to TV production on Disney+.
Before, Marvel mainly followed a movie-style model with directors and creative leaders in charge. Starting in 2022, they switched to a more traditional TV model, with longer development times and writer-producers as showrunners.
The show has got some massive updates recently. Paul Betanny recently commented that he will prepare for his role as White Vision by watching ‘Agatha All Along’ implying that the two shows are connected.
Also, James Spader was confirmed to return as Ultron a few months ago, along with Todd Stashwick whose role is so far unconfirmed.
The show will see White Vision’s journey continue following the finale of ‘WandaVision.’ Several rumors in the past teased that we will see Ultron in his human body and now new concept art published by Marvel Studios artist Mushk Rizvi seems to tease a female variant of Ultron. You can check it out below:
It’s unclear whether the same Ultron inhabits this new twist on the classic vibranium body or a different program is in charge. Several fans pointed out that the concept art may show Jocasta.
Jocasta is an advanced AI who overcame her programming and became a hero. She was created by Ultron to be his robotic bride, using the Wasp’s consciousness. However, she resisted and joined the Avengers instead.
Jocasta struggled with feeling unaccepted but fought alongside heroes. She sacrificed herself multiple times, especially to stop Ultron. She was later rebuilt by villains and changed over time.
She had a complicated relationship with Machine Man and worked with teams like the Mavericks, Mighty Avengers, and Avengers Academy as a teacher.
Recently, Tony Stark hired her as a robot ethicist. During a robot revolution, she was controlled by Arno Stark but was freed by Machine Man and helped defeat Arno.
