Star Wars doesn’t really need an introduction, does it? Geoge Lucas’ epic space opera started off as a very ambitious idea, only to become one of the biggest and most lucrative franchises of all time. The original movie universe has since expanded to include TV shows, books, games, and even comic books.
While every aspect of the franchise is growing, in this report, we would like to tell you about a comic book that is debuting next spring, but that promises to be one of the best Star Wars stories, as it is going to explore the most interesting period of the franchise’s evolution – the Republic just before The Phantom Menace.
This was a period when most of the main Jedi from the series were still alive and when the lore of the Jedi Order was at its peak. This is why this series will be exciting and that is why we have decided to report on this!
At this year’s New York Comic-Con, the Lucasfilm Publishing: Star Wars: Stories From a Galaxy Far, Far Away Panel revealed a lot of exciting news for Star Wars fans. The biggest announcement was the confirmation of a new ongoing comic book series premiering in March 2025. Based on what we know so far, it’s shaping up to be exceptional!
The series, titled Star Wars: Jedi Knights, will be written by Emmy Award-winning screenwriter and acclaimed Star Wars comics writer Marc Guggenheim (STAR WARS: HAN SOLO & CHEWBACCA, STAR WARS: YODA) and drawn by rising star artist Madibek Musabekov (STAR WARS, X-MEN RED), which is a fact that Marvel is stressing out, and for a good reason.
Guggenheim is a great author, and if you look at the art, George Lucas’ characters look like they’re alive, and not drawn, which is certainly amazing.
As for the official story, here is how Marvel described the series:
Taking place before The Phantom Menace, STAR WARS: JEDI KNIGHTS stars the Jedi Order as fans came to know it during the Prequel Trilogy including legendary characters like Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Count Dooku, Mace Windu, and many more. In addition to featuring iconic and fan-favorite Jedi duo, the series will introduce all new Jedi characters that served the Republic during this pivotal era.
Each issue will spotlight a different Jedi duo on a different mission throughout the galaxy, but an overarching threat binds them together. Who is the mysterious new villain targeting Qui-Gon Jinn for death and how will it force the Jedi Order to evolve for a new age?
Editor Mark Paniccia is also very excited about the series, revealing the following piece of information:
“Marc and Madibek deliver a blockbuster first issue with a cliffhanger that kicks off one action-packed issue after another featuring your favorite knights. You’ve literally never seen so much lightsaber action in a comic book!”

Is this something we want? Absolutely! Based on the description, the series seems like something we definitely want to read and to be honest, we cannot wait for March to find out what is going to happen with the series and how the whole story is going to evolve!
