Over on Larian’s official blog, the developer posted a guide to tweaking Baldur’s Gate 3 while also recommending some key mods that should result in a better experience. The list includes some classics that have been around since the game was in early access, including Adjustable Party Limit, ImprovedUI, FaerunColors, Faces of Faerun, and even UnlockLevelCurve to make multi-classing even more rewarding. Most of the included mods are minor alterations but some are far more practical; Better Inventory UI is essential for players who like to gather up as much loot as possible.
Getting Creative With Mods In Baldur’s Gate 3
Mods Are More Than Just Cosmetics
The majority of Baldur’s Gate 3 mods are designed to provide players with more customization options, adding new character creation features, outfits, and items to the game. These are undoubtedly exceptional but one can’t help but be impressed by those mods that go out of their way to provide a more transformative experience. Creative modders have managed to completely alter the shape of Baldur’s Gate 3 by adding in new skills, spells, classes, backgrounds, and even game modes; a particularly impressive add-on turns the whole game into a roguelike.
Having Larian Studios’ approval to tweak and adjust Baldur’s Gate 3 just makes the process of creating custom content all the more rewarding. While it was already fairly easy to implement mods, the introduction of the toolkit in Patch 7 has made it easier than ever. The community is only getting started so players can look forward to plenty more exciting creations in the future.
Should You Mod Baldur’s Gate 3?
There’s Really Nothing To Lose
It’s no secret that Baldur’s Gate 3 is already a massive game that can take hundreds of hours to complete, but that’s no reason to be wary of mods. While it may initially seem difficult to install add-ons, once one gets the hang of it, there’s no end to the kind of experience that can be created. Now that even Larian Studios is offering to guide newcomers, there’s no reason to not give it a try.
