Nobody Wants This star Justine Lupe has set the record straight about her on-set pregnancy after revealing that she initially hid the news from her co-stars.

Last month, the Succession actress, 35, who is not known to be dating anyone and hasn’t gone public with a partner in recent times, shared on Instagram that the show ‘carried me through my first 5+ months of pregnancy with so much warmth’.

She also noted that the cast and crew weren’t immediately aware of her pregnancy and found out while on set.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Justine has now opened up about why she didn’t instantly share the big news with her colleagues.

Posting a carousel of pregnancy snaps while on-set of the new rom-com, the actress penned: ‘Wanted to just make clear, because my words have (I’m sure with good intention) been cut up and rearranged into a misleading story a few times now- I want to clarify that the cast and crew did know I was pregnant as soon as it was safe to share.

Last month, the 35-year-old actress revealed on Instagram that the Nobody Wants This cast ‘carried me through my first 5+ months of pregnancy with so much warmth’ (Pictured on set of the show with Kristen Bell)

‘As women who have carried a baby know, there is a higher risk of miscarriage in the first few months of pregnancy so it’s emotionally risky to share too early.

‘I only care to make this clear because EVERY single person on this set made sure I was cozy and taken care of.’

Justine plays Morgan, the sister of Bell’s Joanne, in Nobody Wants This.

The series, which premiered on Netflix last month, follows the unlikely love story between an agnostic sex podcaster (Kristen Bell) and a newly-single rabbi (Adam Brody).

The show reportedly had 26.2 million viewers in its first 11 days, though Netflix is notoriously opaque about its viewership figures and how it calculates them.

Following its success, the show was renewed for a second season just two weeks after its release.

She went on to gush about her coworkers, including her onscreen sister, Kristen Bell.

‘[Kristen] ran around her living room in a sheet mask screaming in celebration when she found out and vowed to make this experience as cushiony and sweet and soft as possible,’ she recalled.

Justine also said how show creator, Erin Foster, who was also pregnant during the show’s production, gave her ‘a huge hug’ when she learned the news.

‘[She] eased any worry I may have had about working around it,’ the actress explained.

The star then thanked the series’ costume team and cinematographers for helping to handle her pregnancy on the set.

‘Every single @netflix exec on set came up and congratulated me,’ she noted. ‘We had a set with FOUR pregnant women!’

After shedding light on her supportive cast and crew, she went on to talk about industry expectations and norms.

The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel alum added: ‘I say this all because there is a narrative that it’s a death sentence of sorts to become a mother in this industry.

‘That your career will be over. That there isn’t room for us when we transition into this AWESOME new chapter of our lives. This new version of ourselves.

‘And the narrative isn’t based on nothing, there is a long history of this being the case, but I do think that things are changing!

‘I’ve been lucky enough to see some of my best friends do some bonkers incredible work pregnant or as new moms and it’s been hugely expansive.

‘It seems silly to react to headlines being put out there but this set made me feel so safe creatively and interpersonally and I think it’s important for women to hear THIS narrative.’
