Emma Dumont is an American actor, model, and dancer. They are known for roles like Melanie Segal in ‘Bunheads,’ Emma Karn in ‘Aquarius,’ Lorna Dane/Polaris in ‘The Gifted,’ and Jackie Oppenheimer in the 2023 film ‘Oppenheimer.’
Recently, Dumont came out as transmasculine and non-binary, changing their name to Nick on Instagram, but they will still use Emma professionally.
TMZ reached out to Dumont’s representative who confirmed what the actor already stated on their social media profile:
They identify as a trans masculine non-binary person. Their work name is still going to be Emma Dumont, but they will go by Nick with friends and family.
Transmasculine refers to people assigned female at birth who identify with masculinity, including transgender men and AFAB nonbinary people.
Dumont’s first film role was in ‘True Adolescents’ (2007) and they later appeared in ‘Dear Lemon Lima’ (2009), both filmed in their hometown of Seattle. In 2010, they won the V Magazine V A Model search contest and signed with Ford Models.
Dumont starred in the NBC pilot Metro in 2011 and joined the cast of ‘Bunheads’ in 2011, playing Melanie Segal. They also appeared in the film ‘Nobody Walks’ in 2012.
In 2014, Dumont filmed two pilots for NBC, including ‘Aquarius’ (which ran for two seasons) and ‘Salvation’ (which was not picked up). In 2017, they joined the cast of ‘The Gifted’ on Fox. Dumont also portrayed J. Robert Oppenheimer’s sister-in-law in the 2023 film ‘Oppenheimer’, directed by Christopher Nolan.
