That said, the fact that Arcane is ending with season 2 does not mean the franchise itself is dead. Although several storylines – such as those involving Arcane‘s League of Legends champions like Jayce, Viktor, Jinx, Heimerdinger, and Ambessa, to name a few – were wrapped up in season 2’s final episode, there is no doubt that future stories in this world could be told. This became evident by the time of Arcane season 2’s ending, with the show leaving several plot threads dangling for future projects to pick up.
Arcane Season 2 Was Always Meant To Lead To More Stories
Arcane’s Creators Made This Clear

Even before Arcane season 2 began airing, it was revealed that the show would lead to more stories. In October 2024, the show’s co-creator Christian Linke sat down exclusively with Screen Rant to discuss League of Legends projects beyond Arcane. Here is what Linke had to say:
“Arcane is just the first one. We’re working on a bunch of new projects, a bunch of new stories from across the different regions and characters of our IP, and some of them are actually continuations of character stories from Arcane .”
From these comments, it became clear that Arcane was always going to set up future stories. While the show aptly ends certain character arcs and wraps up the story of the Piltover-Zaun war, some characters remain in limbo. These characters are undoubtedly going to be the basis of Arcane spin-offs, linking back to Linke’s comments about some of the projects in development being continuations of the show’s characters. In Arcane season 2’s final scenes, some of these potential spin-offs became clearer than ever.
Arcane Season 2 Sets Up Noxian Spin-Offs
Mel’s Story Is Only Just Beginning

One of the more exciting potential spin-offs of Arcane centers around Mel Medarda. In season 2, Mel’s character grew significantly with the revelation that she is a mage linked to Arcane‘s Black Rose. Mel used her newfound magical powers to oppose her mother, Ambessa, and aid the likes of Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, and Jayce to defend Piltover from Ambessa’s ambition and Viktor’s power. After doing so, Arcane season 2 included some tantalizing teases about Mel, the Black Rose, and where this storyline could go in the future.
The final sequence of Arcane season 2’s finale saw Mel sitting in her mother’s ship, wearing similar garb to Ambessa and holding her golden mask. This implies that Mel has taken her mother’s place as a Noxian warlord and the head of house Medarda. Although Mel will likely rectify her mother’s mistakes and be more benevolent, it is an interesting turn nonetheless. Arcane season 2 left off with Mel heading back to Noxus, setting up more stories in that kingdom and leaving the door open for Noxian League of Legends champions to have a role in her arc going forward.
This could mean that Mel’s future storyline involves her finishing what her mother started and defeating the Black Rose, learning more about her magic…
Moreover, Mel betrayed the Black Rose leader in Arcane season 2’s ending. While she defeated Ambessa as the Black Rose wanted, Mel did not learn under the Black Rose’s mysterious leader and instead called her a deceiver before defeating her too. This could mean that Mel’s future storyline involves her finishing what her mother started and defeating the Black Rose, learning more about her magic and the kingdom of Noxus as she does so.
Arcane Season 2’s Surviving Piltover Characters Are Continuing The Fight

Another potential spin-off of Arcane season 2 could come from Caitlyn and Vi. Their final scene saw Caitlyn ask Vi if she was still in the fight, to which Vi replied she could never get rid of her. What fight Caitlyn is referring to remains to be seen after Viktor and Ambessa’s defeat, but there are some possibilities. One such possibility is that Vi and Caitlyn will venture out into Runeterra to remove all traces of Hextech from the world after Jayce traded the technology to other nations in season 1.
Caitlyn and Vi were presumably in the airship crossing the ocean in Arcane season 2’s final shot, teasing their future stories.
Another possibility is that Caitlyn and Vi are setting out to help Mel’s new cause now that they have an alliance. Finally, Piltover’s other characters could feature in a spin-off. Arcane season 2 saw Piltover and Zaun unite to fight Viktor and Ambessa, resulting in Sevika being added to the council as Zaun’s representative. It is unlikely the unification of the two nations will go completely, which a spin-off of Arcane season 2 could explore further while including other surviving characters like Ekko.
