Margaret foretold that “when twice 1,200 moons have coursed, ‘tween man’s attack and woman’s curse, and when the issue is cut down, then will a Scotsman wear a crown.” In plain language, this means that a Scotsman would again rule once a baby born 200 years after its conception is killed. Geillis decided that this must be Brianna, who was conceived in the 18th century but born in the 20th—but that’s as far as Outlander took it.

Outlander will be ending with season 8, which means there isn’t much time to dive into the full meaning and implications of the Fraser prophecy. The series has revolved heavily around the Jacobite movement, which aimed to put a Scot back on the throne. The Battle of Culloden was pivotal in Claire, Jamie, and Brianna’s stories, and the Jacobite gold has now plagued the safety of Brianna and Ian’s families. Given all this, it seems that the Fraser prophecy would come back into play, but there has been no word since Claire killed Geillis in Outlander season 3.

While the Outlander TV show made specific reference to a 200-year-old baby, the third Outlander book, Voyager, made mention of a prophecy made by the Brahan Seer, who believed that the new Scottish ruler would be a descendent of the Frasers of Lovat. This is, of course, why Brianna was in danger since she comes from the line of Jamie’s grandfather, Simon Fraser, Lord of Lovat.

Like the show, this is about all that has been revealed in the Outlander books. Gabaldon still has one more novel on the way that will end the series, and it’s assumed that the Fraser prophecy will play a continued part. However, this won’t be released until after Outlander season 8, which has had to forge its own path toward a series conclusion. Still, Gabaldon has brought up the prophecy in some of her later books, especially in relation to Brianna’s story in the 20th century. Since this is about where the Outlander series currently has this character, it may come into play in the coming episodes.
