Back in the 20th century, Brianna was confronted by Rob Cameron, and it’s revealed that the man had never actually taken Jemmy through the stones. Of course, Roger, who is back in the year 1739 looking for his son, doesn’t know this—but he has been more or less distracted by the discovery that his father, Jerry MacKenzie, went back in time as well. Brianna and Roger are both oblivious about Jamie being lost at sea, but since he suddenly returned at the end of Outlander season 7, episode 11, they would have had no need to worry anyway.
How Jamie Is Still Alive In Outlander Season 7, Episode 11 Explained
Jamie Was Never Even Aboard The Utopian

Jamie’s luggage was on the Utopian, but he wasn’t aboard when the ship was lost at sea. He instead hopped on a different boat and headed for the Americas, but whatever else Jamie has been up to during this time is still unknown. In Outlander season 7, episode 11’s ending, Jamie was followed by some British soldiers, but precisely why they were after him wasn’t revealed. It’s likely that a supposed dead rebel suddenly appearing in Philadelphia made him a quick point of interest. This would also explain why Jamie pretended to hold Lord John at gunpoint since he wouldn’t want his loyalist friend to be accused of aiding a rebel.
Just as Claire began wrapping her mind around being Lord John Grey’s wife in Outlander season 7, episode 11, Jamie Fraser came bursting through her bedroom door. This was, of course, quite a shock to both Claire and Lord John, and after Claire ran into her second husband’s arms, her third asked in bewilderment how Jamie was still alive. Jamie explained that the ship lost at sea—for which he had signed his name on the register—was meant to set out in the evening on the day of departure. However, the captain took advantage of favorable weather and left early.

William wasn’t thrilled to learn he was not who he believed himself to be. Jamie, on the other hand, was clearly relieved to tell the truth. He hadn’t intended it to happen this way or ever at all. However, once the cat was out of the bag, Jamie affectionately called William a “stinking Papist,” referring to a conversation he had with the boy back in season 3, when he secretly baptized him as a catholic. William wasn’t very receptive to this, throwing back Jamie’s rosary beads. Still, since Jamie was then apprehended by William’s Redcoat colleagues, there wasn’t much time in Outlander season 7, episode 11’s ending to sort it out.
Claire & Lord John’s Marriage (& Consummation) Explained
Will Claire & Lord John’s Marriage Be A Problem for Jamie?

Jamie’s return in Outlander season 7 is a touch more complicated since Claire married Lord John in his absence. This was done only as a means to keep Claire safe since she had been caught passing on rebel messages and was deemed a spy. In Outlander season 7, episode 10, Captain Richardson informed Lord John of Claire’s imminent arrest, and the only solution seemed to be marriage. Still, since Claire’s previous husband is not, in fact, dead, her marriage with Lord John would be invalid. Jamie’s return shouldn’t mean any legal troubles, but he may have some questions about Claire and Johns’s consummation.

Claire and Lord John were in horrible, painful grief following their wedding, and on one drunken night in Outlander season 7, episode 11, they slept together. They both admitted that they imagined they were with Jamie and were using one another’s connection to the man to feel closer to him. While a little uncomfortable, Claire and Lord John sleeping together actually seemed to make a difference. The next day, they were able to make an attempt at getting back at their lives.

Rob Cameron Didn’t Take Jemmie Through The Stones After All
Brianna Found Rob Cameron (Or He Found Her)

This means that Roger and Buck’s adventure in 1739 will achieve nothing in the way of finding Jemmy. Still, this doesn’t mean they traveled to this point in history for no reason. Roger is closer than ever to discovering the true fate of his father, Jerry MacKenzie, who disappeared and was presumed dead during World War II. As it turns out, Jerry actually traveled through the stones to 1739, and it’s now up to Roger in Outlander season 7 to discover precisely what came of him.
While most of the excitement was happening in the 1770s in Outlander season 7, episode 11, Brianna’s 20th-century story got some time in the sun as well. She had been left at Lallybroch with little Mandy while Roger and Buck went through the stones, and it’s a good thing she did since Rob Cameron turned up. The man revealed that he had never actually taken Jemmy to the past and had instead attempted to get the boy to tell him where the Jacobite gold was hidden so they could look for it in the present. Cameron returned to Lallybroch to kidnap Brianna, too, but wound up getting knocked unconscious instead.

There were some other minor stories in Outlander season 7, episode 11, that will also come into play in future episodes. Ian and Rachel’s romance has really begun to take off, though there are evident complications involving their religions and the fact that William is also in love with Rachel. Additionally, Lord John’s nephew, Henry, announced in episode 11 that he wanted to marry Mercy Woodcock, a Black woman, which would mean trouble with Lord John’s brother. Overall, there is still a great deal to look forward to in Outlander season 7’s continued story.
