Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wish to still be treated as royalty has been exposed during their trip to Colombia, a leading royal commentator has suggested.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are taking the South American country by storm, drawing the crowds and participating in events promoting mental health for young people and tackling cyberbullying.

Royal author Angela Levin singled out one episode during the trip where Meghan taught girls how to curtsy for her. Ms Levin told GB News it recalled a scene in Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary which some viewers believe appeared to show the Duchess mocking the late Queen.

Meghan describes meeting Elizabeth II for the first time, giving an exaggerated bow as if to show how she curtsied at that time. Some critics accused Meghan of mocking the late monarch in that scene.

Ms Levin, discussing the Sussexes’ Colombia trip, said: “She was teaching little girls there to do curtsies for her, because she is a princess… I couldn’t believe that. [It was] shocking – shocking.”

Asked if they don’t want to be royal, but want to be treated as though they are, Ms Levin answered: “Yes, that’s right. Well, I think Meghan does. I think Harry looks so miserable and unhappy.”
