Star Wars Outlaws has yet another problem and it isn’t even technically out yet.
Ubisoft’s latest release, Star Wars Outlaws, is facing backlash from players who are being forced to restart their game due to a problematic new patch. Despite the anticipation of the game’s early access launch, players on PlayStation 5 have been hit with an unexpected issue.
A new patch during the early access phase is causing chaos by deleting save files for players on the PS5, forcing them to start their game from scratch. As you’d expect, this has not got the best reactions from fans. Especially considering the fact that they paid premium to get into early access.

The message stated that continuing with older saves would lead to progression blockers, effectively trapping players in an unplayable state. The problem seems to be isolated to the PlayStation 5, as no similar issues have been reported by Xbox or PC players.
This has added to the frustration, with many PS5 users expressing their discontent on social media. For players who have already spent hours in the game, the idea of starting over is nothing short of a nightmare.
The game’s early access period, which was intended as a perk for those willing to pay extra, has instead turned into a nightmare for many. Many players feel that the game should have been released in a more polished state, especially considering the hefty price tag. As one player put it, “This is what y’all get for being unpaid bug testers.“

The situation is only made worse by the fact that Star Wars Outlaws has already received mixed reviews. Players and critics have pointed out the game’s lackluster story and graphical downgrades, raising questions about whether the game was truly ready for release.
Refund that shit!

Ubisoft’s handling of the situation is also sub-optimal, to say the least. While the company has apologized for the inconvenience and advised players to start new saves, this has done little to help those affected. The idea of paying extra to become a de facto bug tester has led some to even call for refunds.
The addition of a game-breaking patch during the early access period only adds to the perception that the game was rushed to market, leaving paying customers to bear the brunt of its unfinished state.
The frustration isn’t just about the lost progress, it’s also about the principle. Many players feel that after paying a premium price for early access, they shouldn’t have to deal with such issues.
