Resident Evil 9 gameplay leaks have left fans rightly terrified at one of its rumoured monsters.
During its reveal, Capcom did not reveal any details about the upcoming Resident Evil game, other than it is currently in development. Naturally, this sparked the ever-spinning rumour mill to go into overdrive.
A previous batch of rumours claimed that Resident Evil 9 will take place on a remote island and will star Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine, teaming up for the first time in a video game.
The rumours also claimed that the island is said to be the origin of Eveline, the antagonist of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard but the recent rumours now claim that this is where she is being cloned as a mass bio-weapon.
Now, we have a fresh batch of rumours courtesy once more of Andy Cox from Biohazard Declassified and shared by his colleagues at Residence of Evil that are said to be taken from two playtests, one each for Leon and Jill.
The new rumours reveal a few more details about an enemy known as the Goatman who will be stalking Jill. Furthermore, there will also be a witch-like character with big boobs (seriously, that’s what the leaks claim).
The Goatman will be a tall and imposing monster carrying a large axe and has a big mouth on his belly. He cannot be killed, only temporarily incapacitated. Quite rightly, this is already sending shivers down the spines of Resident Evil fans.
“I do not like the sound of Goatman,” declared Reddit user bmarvel808.
“Bruh, Goatman is gonna scare the crap outta me,” said CyberfunkTwenty77.
“On one hand I find the “unkillable stalker” concept to be frequently annoying, but I have to admit, it’s an effective (if not too cheap/easy) way of creating an overwhelming sense of dread and uncertainty in a horror game,” KevinT_XY explained.
Other rumours of note claim Jill’s playtest took place in an abandoned hospital with harrowing screams, roaming zombies (some carrying weapons) and reminders of Albert Wesker’s past experiments on her from Resident Evil 5.
Chris phones Jill and informs her that a virus that plays a huge part in the game could be cured with the blood of Rose Winters, the daughter of Ethan Winters from Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village. Jill’s playstyle ends with her being overpowered by the Goatman and infected.
Leon’s playthrough begins on a beach at night (which he later returns to finding zombies praying to the moon) before making his way through a dark forest to discover the laboratory of Mr Simon, one of the antagonists of the game.
Leon is assigned to track down Mr Simon, the person said to be cloning Eveline. He also encounters zombies and compares his current situation to the Raccoon City incident.
The unkillable witch-like character (with big boobs) that is stalking Leon can spawn unkillable dog-like creatures. She can also transform into swarms of flies, which sounds a lot like the daughters of Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village. The playtest concludes with Leon discovering a Blue Umbrella base.
We should take these rumours with a huge pinch of salt until confirmed by Capcom, especially as they could easily be debunked. Hopefully, Capcom will officially reveal Resident Evil 9 in the coming months.
