Amid such a major catastrophe, Yale Emergency Management has released safety tips and measurements to prepare for a hurricane as monstrous as Milton. Preparation includes plans to secure one’s property—board up windows with 5/8” marine plywood, securely fasten the roof, cut down trees and shrubs around the house, and clear loose and clogged rain gutters.

As for emergency supplies, the website suggested keeping—medications, nonperishable foods, battery-powered radios, flashlights, extra batteries, important documents, cash and credit cards, and a first aid kit at arm’s reach. Meanwhile, disaster management authorities have ordered up and down Florida’s west coast as evacuation zones, alongside a list and map of the evacuation orders.
