Skyrim players find alternate ending they've been hunting for years

Although not marketed as a horror game, there are truly some horrifying discoveries in the land of Skyrim and the House of Horrors quest is one such example.

However, fans think they have found an alternative solution to the much-loved quest over ten years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was first released.

We all remember the House of Horrors quest which saw us come face to face with the Daedric prince Molag Bal for the first time.

What starts as a simple wander around the town of Markarth soon turns into a bloodbath when we stumble across a seemingly haunted house but it isn’t long before we discover the true horrors lurking within its walls.

If you need a quick reminder or have yet to play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, upon entering the House of Horrors, players will be instructed to kill Tyranus, a Vigilant of Stendarr.

Tyranus is the man who asks for your help to investigate the strange house and it is this innocent bystander that you will be forced to execute in order to proceed with the quest and escape the home.

However, if you are averse to killing innocent NPCs in your playthrough then this causes quite the problem.

Luckily, there is now a solution thanks to one user over on r/skyrim.

“This is my favorite game but the lack of choice really disappoints me sometimes,” the original post reads.

“Example: House of Horrors quest. In my thousands of hours I’ve only done it once, on an evil playthrough, so I beat the priest and got the mace.

This time I thought I’d see if there was a good way to end the quest.”

However, user EkeMyWay soon came to the rescue with an alternate way to approach the quest and still remain the good guy.

“I like to talk to the Vigilant of Stendarr outside the house. I agreed to help him. Then I blast him with a fury spell. Then I hit him with a pacify spell. It fails the quest, the house stays locked, and the Vigilant goes to the inn for the rest of the game and drinks.”

Although this means that you will not gain the mace, it does mean that you won’t have blood on your hands at least.
