Skyrim's first dungeon has a massive secret treasure we all missed for years

A Skyrim player has discovered a secret treasure very early on in the game that many of us may have missed for years.

It will come as little surprise to those who love nothing more than to explore the lands of Tamriel in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that discoveries are still being made in the ever-popular fantasy RPG from Bethesda over a decade since its original launch.

“Dragons, long lost to the passages of the Elder Scrolls, have returned to Tamriel and the future of the Empire hangs in the balance. As Dragonborn, the prophesied hero born with the power of The Voice, you are the only one who can stand amongst them,” reads the synopsis of Skyrim.

Whether it’s embarking on the single-player campaign, any one of its immersive side-quests or simply exploring to see what secrets you can find, Skyrim fans will likely continue to enjoy the adventures it brings, hopefully until the release of The Elder Scrolls VI.

One such secret that a Skyrim player has discovered would have likely been missed by many fans, despite it being right under our noses during one of the first missions in the game, ‘Before the Storm’.

“Show of hands, how many of you have been playing this game for years and had no clue about these hidden items outside Bleak Falls Barrow?” asked Redditor Extension_Travel3535.

When you reach the ancient Nordic ruins, otherwise known as Bleak Falls Barrow, as shown by the Reddit user, if you take a little detour around the corner, you will find a strong box and an apothecary satchel containing items such as Juniper Berries.

“Brilliant, another loot spot I’ll constantly remind myself to get next time I play,” said Maevox.

“Man, I’ve logged countless hours in this game and still keep learning new things,” responded jmac744.

“You will be starting this game even after another 20 years because you will find another hidden chest under the whale bones in Sovengard,” replied Drachirus246.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is out now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. It’s also included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription at no extra cost.
