Now, Netflix has released the newest trailer that shows Gi-hun as a player trying to help the other competitors survive and escape the games. The trailer features the return of the infamous Red Light, Green Light game, and the return of the giant robotic doll, Young-hee. Gi-hun does his best to keep the other players from moving, but is unable to prevent bloodshed from happening. As his efforts to help the other players continue and their distrust in him grows, he eventually admits that he has played in the games before. Check out the trailer below:
What This Means For Squid Game Season 2
Seong Gi-hun & The Front Man Are Openly Testing Each Other
The trailer shows that following the Squid Game season 1 ending, Gi-hun is not only trying to take down the games and the Front Man, but is doing so openly. Gi-hun is not being subtle about his return as the Front Man, and likely the guard as well, are fully aware of the former winner’s presence. Since the trailer has already shown Gi-hun admitting to the other players that he has competed in the games before, this revelation will probably be divulged early on in season 2.
Due to all the knowledge he has about the games, the other players are wary of Gi-hun and even accuse him of working for the Front Man. While the easiest thing would be to simply kill Gi-hun during one of the games, the Front Man can instead see the other players turn against the person trying to help them. Meanwhile, there are also shots of the Front Man’s brother, Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun), and other police officers, as the authorities close in on the games.
Our Take On The New Teaser Trailer
Season 2 Can Be Just As Good If It Meets One Condition
Image via NetflixSeeing Gi-hun back in a player’s uniform, the return of Red Light, Green Light, and Jun-ho’s ongoing investigation show that season 2 has many of the same elements that made season 1 a hit. To fully replicate the previous success, the new characters need to be as compelling as Squid Game season 1’s characters, most of whom are dead. If the new players are as well-developed as those Gi-hun knew in season 1, Squid Game season 2 could be just as successful.
