The Steam Autumn Sale is here, and Valve is once again threatening to empty our collective bank accounts by offering up some of the best discounts you’ve likely seen all year.

One of the discounts on offer is for one of 2015’s most overlooked games, developed by the folks behind the Just Cause series.

Mad Max is an action-adventure title by developers Avalanche Studios, which you can currently grab on Steam for the low price of £1.59. Less than a can of dog food these days.

The game didn’t exactly receive the most overwhelming critical response when it dropped back in 2015, but you wouldn’t assume that looking at the Steam reviews.

Reviews for Max Max averaged out at somewhere around a 7, which earned it a 69/100 (don’t say it) Top Critic average over on OpenCritic.

The Steam reviews paint a very different picture, however. Over 90% of the 48,000+ reviews on Steam are positive, which has earned Mad Max an overall “Very Positive” rating on the platform.

So where’s this disconnect coming from? It might have something to do with Mad Max’s price.

Back in 2015, Mad Max was a full-price title on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, since it landed on Steam, you could grab the title for roughly £16.

And now, with the recent 90% discount, you can get the title for around $2.

Now, I’m not going to pretend it’s not more than worth giving this a go at that price. I would however warn you to temper your expectations a little.

Mad Max is a fun little title, but it does get a bit repetitive the longer you play. It’s definitely not the 9/10 hidden gem banger that the Steam reviews are making it out to be, but it is a steal at its current price.
