The Dwarves and men will soon have their own Rings of Power, and that’s mostly thanks to Sauron’s talent for manipulation and deception. Of course, Celembrimbor’s expertise at the forge is also necessary for the objects’ creation. There’s a reason Sauron works so hard to win the Elf over, even transforming into Annatar to gain his trust. The Rings of Power cements Celebrimbor as one of Middle-earth’s finest craftsmen, and it highlights how much his work changes the fate of the continent. It’s not just the Rings of Power, either. Season 2 also reveals his involvement in creating another important substance.
The Rings Of Power Season 2 Reveals The Origin Of Ithildin
This Is The Substance The Doors Of Durin At Moria Are Made Of

In addition to making the Rings of Power, Celebrimbor creates another hugely important substance: Ithildin. The Rings of Power season 2’s three-episode premiere reveals the origin of this substance, which is in line with J.R.R. Tolkien’s books. Celebrimbor invents Ithildun in both Tolkien’s writings and the show, and it can only be seen in moonlight. Ithildun, which is made from Mithril, is used to craft the Doors of Durin. These serve as the western entrance to Khazad-dûm. Khazad-dûm later becomes Moria, which Frodo and his companions pass through during The Fellowship of the Ring.
Those familiar with The Fellowship of the Ring will recall Frodo and the Fellowship passing through a doorway that requires them to “speak friend and enter.” This is the Doors of Durin, and by showing the history of the substance used to create them, The Rings of Power is setting up this great Lord of the Rings moment. We may even see the construction of this passageway in the coming episodes of the Amazon show. Season 2 is poised to introduce the Dwarf who helps Celebrimbor build them, and it’s set to focus on the Dwarves’ relations with the Elves.
Will The Doors Of Durin Be Constructed In The Rings Of Power?
Narvi’s Introduction Makes A Strong Case For It
Cerebrimbor’s invention of Ithildin sets up The Fellowship of the Ring, but it also makes it likely that the Doors of Durin will be constructed during The Rings of Power. In fact, this will likely happen in The Rings of Power season 2. The second outing is confirmed to introduce Narvi, who helps Celebrimbor create the Elven Door to Khazad-dûm. Additionally, Celebrimbor’s offer to the Dwarves makes it likely that they’ll be collaborating with the Elves more. All of this is setting the stage for us to see the Doors of Durin in the coming episodes of The Rings of Power. This adds more excitement to this outing, giving diehard Tolkien fans another event from the Second Age to look forward to. Although The Rings of Power isn’t connected to Warner Bros.’ Lord of the Rings franchise, it also adds a fun detail for those more familiar with the Third Age of Middle-earth.
