Tyler Hoechlin's Superman bruised in Superman & Lois season 4 and Doomsday amid flamesSuperman & Lois season 4 might be setting up the debut of a major DC Comics villain late into the show’s run. After three incredible seasons, Superman & Lois has entered its final year, with season 4 set to be the last entry in the beloved series. The stakes have never been higher for the show. Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman fought Doomsday in Superman & Lois season 4’s premiere and, despite having given his all, the Man of Steel was killed by the monster. The TV show’s Doomsday is an evolved version of Bizarro, another classic Superman villain.

Making Doomsday and Bizarro one and the same was an interesting choice, which allowed Superman & Lois to tie together two major Superman villains. Now, it seems like the series might have introduced a way for two other classic Superman foes to have a connection in season 4. After having debuted in season 3, Michael Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor is back with a major role to play in the story of Superman & Lois season 4. Lex Luthor is already connected to Doomsday, having created the monster after experimenting on Bizarro, and he could lead to another DC villain’s debut.

Superman & Lois Season 4 Episode 1 Teases The DC Show’s Version Of Brainiac

Brainiac Is One Of Superman’s Most Challenging Villains

While Superman & Lois season 4 already has two major villains in the form of Lex Luthor and Doomsday, it seems like the DC show could be adding a third one. Brainiac is one of the Man of Steel’s most frightening foes, being directly responsible for the destruction of his home planet, Krypton, in multiple versions of the hero’s mythos. The first episode of Superman & Lois season 4 featured an easy-to-miss nod to Brainiac through an alias, which could lead to the villain making a surprise appearance in the show.

When Amanda McCoy delivers the technological box that can contain Superman’s heart to Lex Luthor, she tells him that “Milton” came up with it. McCoy later refers to the unseen character as a “brainiac.” Superman & Lois season 4 is clearly teasing Brainiac, who in the comics has used the alias Milton Fine when a cloud of nanites believing themselves to be the true Brainiac took over the body of Milton Fine, a metahuman with psychic powers. While he has yet to appear, Milton could debut later in the season and be revealed to be Brainiac.

Why Brainiac Would Be A Perfect Addition To Superman & Lois Season 4

It Is Now Or Never For The DC Villain

According to Entertainment Weekly, it was always the plan of producers on the DC series for Superman & Lois to make it to at least seven seasons. However, changes in leadership at The CW and DC have led to season 4 being the show’s curtain call. As such, a better time will never come for Brainiac to be introduced. If the character is not in Superman & Lois season 4, then the DC series will come to an end without Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman ever facing one of the Man of Steel’s biggest villains.

Brainiac has appeared in live-action before, being played by James Marsters in Smallville and Blake Ritson in Krypton.

That said, Superman is dead in the DC series. So, Brainiac’s arrival would put him up against the remaining forces of the show. Even if the villain were to appear in Superman & Lois not to fight the Man of Steel, Brainiac’s debut would be welcome. As this is the show’s final season, the stakes have to be as high as they can be in every episode, and pitting Jordan and the rest of the Kent family, as well as the Irons family, against such a powerful villain like Brainiac on top of Lex Luthor and Doomsday would be exciting.

The chances of the Milton Fine name-drop evolving into a full-on Brainiac appearance in Superman & Lois season 4 are now looking better after a recent update. Showrunner Todd Helbing teased Brainiac’s possible future in Superman & Lois after the debut of season 4’s two-part premiere. According to Helbing, Amanda McCoy’s mention of Milton Fine was very much intentional, as “there will be more to come” regarding Brainiac in Superman & Lois season 4. That reveal came in an interview with TVLine.

According to TVLine , the Superman & Lois showrunner revealed that a major DC Comics character would be referenced early in the season before that person would eventually be mentioned more and more until they showed up.

In a previous interview with the outlet, Helbing made some comments that now make Brainiac’s debut even more likely. According to TVLine, the Superman & Lois showrunner revealed that a major DC Comics character would be referenced early in the season before that person would eventually be mentioned more and more until they showed up. While there is no confirmation that he was talking about Brainiac, Superman & Lois season 4’s first episodes sure make it look like that is the case, which would lead to a major obstacle in the path of the Kents in the final season.
