Warner Bros. should have chosen Aegon’s Conquest for the big screen instead of another Game of Thrones film.

Not everyone liked the idea of a new Game of Thrones movie, and that’s totally fine – after all, a film based on the original HBO show does not make sense. Unless they come up with a new storyline that doesn’t repeat what we’ve already seen on television, this project will remain questionable.

If superhero fatigue is real, it’s not too far to have the same exhaustion when it comes to Game of Thrones. An eight-season run is already generous, and the last few installments have been underwhelming, thus giving the franchise a major shot to the gut.
Warner Bros. Just Missed the Chance to Bring Aegon’s Conquest to the Big Screen
With the announcement of a Game of Thrones movie, everyone’s first thought must have been the same: “What is it about? We’ve already watched the show.” Adapting from books to the small screen is a daunting task, but translating a television show into another platform – in this case, the big screen – is a whole new level of challenge.
We’ve tuned in to Game of Thrones every Sunday for the past decade and followed our beloved characters’ stories. We cheered and mourned, but now, all of that is over. Hopefully, everyone made peace with the season finale.

Then, here comes House of the Dragon introducing the tumultuous world of the Targaryen dynasty. Because of its initial success, HBO planned to deliver another spinoff series revolving around Aegon’s Conquest, the ancestor of the characters in the prequel.
Truth be told, Aegon’s campaign to unite the Seven Kingdoms with his sisters-wives would make a great plot for a film. If done right, Aegon’s Conquest would certainly break box-office records. Apart from being a standalone story, it features some of the most epic scenes from George RR Martin’s fantasy lore.
Just imagine how incredible it would feel to see massive dragons soaring across the sky on a huge screen, the splendid landscape of Westeros and its kingdoms, and the spectacular battle scenes as Aegon the First embarks on his journey.
It’s definitely a huge missed opportunity for Warner Bros. not to give this story a theatrical treatment. Fans will be more eager to watch this in cinemas than another version of Game of Thrones.
Updates on the Upcoming Game of Thrones Movie

The planned Game of Thrones film is still in its early development stage, and so far, no writer, director, or cast has been announced. It is also unlikely the original actors would return given that their characters’ arcs are already finished and many of these stars refuse to watch even the prequel series.
An update from The Hollywood Reporter revealed that George RR Martin is involved in the upcoming project. The idea of a movie version is not entirely a new concept as the author has previously stated it has been brought up as early as 2014. HBO rejected the idea back then, but now, they are reportedly “keen on exploring the idea of Westeros invading cinemas.”
Game of Thrones is currently available to watch on HBO.
