The Last of Us fans hyped as new game quietly teased

If this new game is even half the experience that The Last of Us franchise is, we have every reason to be stoked about its release.

The Last of Us is a masterclass in survival action games.

Within a matter of minutes, the ominous atmosphere of the reality the characters are suddenly faced with hits you like a brick in the head.

From there onwards, you can’t help but become immersed in this new, dangerous world.

Understandably then, anything from Neil Druckmann is going to get the fandom pumped up.

Although Druckmann hasn’t been forthcoming with details about his new project, what little he has revealed has fans chomping at the bit for more.

The ‘Jewish Visionaries in Gaming’ panel streamed several days ago featuring Druckmann amongst other notable individuals, such as Ken Levine.

During the discussion, The Last of Us creator briefly mentioned his next project.

As outlined by Redditor VFB-Fan93, while Druckmann isn’t in control of when he announces this new project, he’s had “full control over the game itself”.

What is more, the game has been in development since 2020.

Before our excitement gets out of hand, let’s put that time span into perspective.

Although four years is a long amount of time to fans, in development terms, it’s nothing.

“Creating a new AAA IP from scratch takes six to eight years nowadays. There is a famous article by Jason Schreier very early in this gen explaining that,” explained NewChemistry5210.

Therefore, while Druckmann and Naughty Dog have been working hard, it doesn’t necessarily mean an announcement is imminent. That’s if it is a new IP that’s being made.

Regardless, the details released thus far do sound promising and seem to hint that a reveal might not be too far away.

“Him saying Sony doesn’t let him control how he’s going to announce it kinda sounds like that there is already a trailer ready and whenever Sony thinks it’s the right time, it’s getting announced, so ye[ah] might be soon,” reasoned desiigner1.

We hope this is the case.

Even if it’s not, we have faith in Druckmann to deliver an intense experience that has us on the edge of our seats the whole time.
